What Is The Recovery Time From Procedures and Treatments?

Most patients return to normal activities on the same day as their treatment. The area that is treated with the laser may be reddened, bruised or swollen for an hour or a few days, but camouflage cosmetics are usually able to conceal any evidence of treatment. Most treatments show little or no sign that you had anything done at all. A mild reddening for 1-3 hours is the most common after-effect. Any post-treatment discomfort can usually be relieved with extra-strength Tylenol. Your doctor may prescribe a stronger medication depending on the procedure. A topical antibiotic such as Bacitracin may also be recommended for the treatment area.

Is Laser Treatment Painful?

The sensations vary depending upon the procedure, the technology used, the wavelengths and the energy settings. Many procedures are completely painless. All are tolerable. Many people describe the laser as feeling like the snap of a rubber band on the skin. We utilize all of the most efficient and most comfortable treatment systems including the adjustable “frozen air cooling system” that maximizes patient comfort by chilling the treatment area before, during and after the procedure. A local anesthetic may be recommended for more sensitive treatment areas or for younger patients.

What Conditions can be Treated with Cosmetic Laser Therapy?

A variety of functional and cosmetic skin problems can be treated with lasers. Laser treatments can reduce the appearance of sun damage, scars, stretch marks, wrinkles, unwanted hair, fine lines, vascular lesions (birthmarks, spider veins, varicose veins and redness on the face) and uneven pigmentation. Cosmetic procedures are not covered by insurance unless specified as such. All fees will be discussed with patients in advance of the procedure and are payable in advance of the procedure. What is Cynergy^TM?

Welcome to the most up-to-date laser technology for treating vascular lesions, including spider telangiectasia and broken capillaries on the face! Cynergy is the first laser system that combines a pulse-dye laser and a powerful Nd: YAG laser into one platform. This innovative device uses advanced technology that is more effective than conventional single-wavelength lasers.

The dual wavelengths in Cynergy offer better absorption and penetration. Melanin pigment and blood absorb both wavelengths, making the laser effective against both pigmented and vascular lesions. The treatment is synergistic because the pulsed dye laser penetrates less while the Nd: YAG penetrates further down. Ideal for red acne scar treatment, cherry angioma removal, and poikiloderma treatment. Works on spider veins on legs and telangiectasia varicose veins. How does Cynergy^TMlaser work?

The Cynergy^TMPulsed Dye and YAG Laser work by targeting these vessels and causing them to shrink over 4 – 6 weeks after treatment. Uses include broken capillaries treatment, cherry angioma treatment, and telangiectasia treatment. The use of a unique cooling tip on the handpiece minimizes any discomfort and also helps to protect the skin. It is most effective when vessels are 1 to 1.5 mm in diameter.

Length of treatment

Multiple treatments are generally required to achieve the desired results. Procedures are quick; it is possible to treat a large number of veins in a session of between 15 and 60 minutes. The area will become red immediately afterward, with some minor swelling.

Downtime

There is little to no social downtime with Cynergy Laser. We recommend wearing compression stockings for a week after treatments when used for veins. Redness will improve over 24 hours.
