Medical-Grade Skincare Summer Essentials: Shino Bay’s Guide

May 13, 2024

It’s Florida summer time and with this comes more sunshine, your skin is more vulnerable to harmful ultraviolet rays, increased humidity and sweat-induced breakouts. It’s important to take extra care of your skin during this season to protect it from these unique challenges.

At Shino Bay Cosmetic Dermatology, we provide a wide range of medical-grade skincare products to cater to your specific needs and ensure the well-being of your skin throughout the year.

In this blog post, you’ll learn what products you need to improve your summer skincare routine.

Your Skin in Summer

You may notice changes in your skin during warmer months due to various reasons.

  • Increased Exposure to Ultraviolet (UV) Rays: During the summer, the sun can be very strong and expose our skin to harmful UV rays. These rays are not visible but can go deep into our skin and cause premature aging signs such as wrinkles and sunspots. Moreover, prolonged exposure to UV rays can increase the risk of developing skin cancer, which is a serious concern.
  • Increased Use of Air Conditioning: Air conditioning (AC) units are very helpful during the summer season as they provide relief from the heat. But they can have adverse effects on your skin. AC units remove moisture from the air, which can quickly deplete your skin’s natural hydration levels. This may worsen skin sensitivity and cause it to feel tight and flaky.
  • Increased Humidity: When it gets warmer outside, we sweat more due to the higher humidity and temperature. While sweating helps regulate our body temperature, it can negatively affect our skin depending on its type. If you have dry skin, the humidity can cause even more dehydration by taking away your natural oils. If you have oily skin, sweating can clog your pores and lead to breakouts, making it harder to manage your skin.

  • Facial aging causes the gradual loss of collagen, elastin, tissue, fat and bone. Fat loss in the face causes the cheeks to appear sunken, the temples & submalar region to look hollow, and the brows to droop.

The injectors at Shino Bay Cosmetic Dermatology are excited to offer an innovative treatment that will restore lost fat, exactly where you want it.😍

Renuva can safely and effectively replenish fat loss anywhere in the body where fat naturally exists, including your face, neck, décolletage, hands and other areas of your body.☑️

If you are interested in learning more about this treatment, I would love to spend some time with you to evaluate if RENUVA is right for you.💙

  • Sculptra has deepened my understanding of the cellular aging process, and since 2009, I’ve seen its remarkable ability to combat aging by preserving bone architecture, enhancing fat contours, and improving skin structure and function. While misplaced Sculptra injections can pose risks, I empathize with my plastic surgeon colleagues who caution against its use out of concern.

To educate my patients and ensure clarity, I want to address some key points. Unlike fillers, Sculptra delivers gradual, enduring results that effectively slow down architectural changes in skin, fat, and bone when injected correctly. Neglecting these changes until a facelift can lead to a prematurely aged appearance, while overusing fillers may result in unnatural looks. Aging is multifaceted, and post-surgical maintenance is crucial.

I’ve observed that patients who opt for Sculptra maintain their youthfulness, often making a facelift look even better. If you’re one of my patients reading this, please share your actual age, perceived age, and Sculptra experience.

I value my colleagues’ concerns and believe constructive dialogues are vital to finding mutually beneficial solutions.

In preparation for surgery, I advise patients to discontinue Sculptra a year or two in advance and wait a year post-surgery before resuming treatment. While injecting on bone poses no issues, ensuring an injection angle of less than 10 degrees helps target the bone rather than superficial tissues.

I believe that better trainings are needed, new injectors need to master hyaluronic acid injections prior to learning Sculptra, invest on anatomy classes and plastic surgeons to demonstrate facelifts in non-surgical conferences and teach us how to prepare our patients for their surgical day. We must work together to ensure progress in the aesthetic field. #sculptra #plla #plasticsurgery #facelifts #progress #workingtogethermakesusbetter #bioregenerativemedicine #functionalaestethics #sculptradialogues #surgicalday #surgicaldaypreparation #getyoungerdontfakeyounger
  • Did you know your blood contains what we call in the industry “liquid gold”?✨

Once separated, your blood’s Platelet-Rich-Plasma (PRP) can be injected or applied topically with microneedling treatments to naturally enhance your skin quality.😍

Let’s talk about it’s uses and benefits:

🔹 Minimization of Dark Circles and Under-Eye Bags: PRP therapy can help reduce the appearance of dark circles and under-eye bags by promoting collagen production and improving skin elasticity in the delicate under-eye area

🔹 Reduced Appearance of Wrinkles: PRP therapy can help diminish the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines by promoting skin regeneration and rejuvenation. The growth factors present in PRP can stimulate cellular turnover, leading to smoother, younger-looking skin.

🔹 Enhanced Skin Hydration: PRP therapy can improve skin hydration by stimulating the production of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that helps retain moisture in the skin. Hydrated skin appears plump, radiant, and more youthful.

🔹 Stimulated Hair Growth: In addition to its effects on skin rejuvenation, PRP therapy has also been used to promote hair growth and improve hair density in individuals experiencing hair loss or thinning. By stimulating hair follicles and increasing blood flow to the scalp, PRP therapy may help reverse the signs of aging associated with hair loss.

🔹 Long-lasting Results: While individual results may vary, many individuals experience long-lasting benefits from PRP therapy for anti-aging purposes. Depending on the treatment protocol and individual factors, results may last several months to over a year, with maintenance sessions recommended for optimal outcomes.
